GLASGOW west end institution The Doublet is up for sale following the retirement of current owner Alistair Don.
The Doublet has been put on the market after being in the hands of the Don family for over 50 years.
The venue was first established in 1961 by Don’s father, Alex Don, before Alistair took over in 1975.
Situated on Park Road in the Woodlands area of Glasgow, The Doublet has a firm place in the heart of Glaswegians. The pub has played host to an eclectic mix of customers over the years including Glasgow based artist and author Alisdair Gray.
Other past celebrity visitors includes one of the founding Beatles Sir Paul McCartney, Kiera Knightley, Franz Ferdinand and Belle and Sebastian.
It was one of the first bars in Glasgow to introduce real ale in the 1980s and is also home to a jukebox with a collection of over 90,000 tracks. The infamous jukebox was also the subject of a robbery back in 2009 but was quickly seized by police and returned to its rightful home.
Still Game star Greg Hemphill tweeted: “If the Doublet closes I will go live with Michelle Mone. #savethedoublet”
